2022 Operation Cookie Drop
The holiday season is truly a magical time when families create everlasting memories that will pass through generations. Christmas carols are sung, delicious sweets are baked filling one’s home with scrumptious scents, and families gather around their living rooms to open presents that are placed around a beautifully illuminated tree. Because USO Rota knows how important the holidays are, we make it a priority to spread holiday cheer to those who cannot be with their families.
This year, for USO Rota’s Operation Cookie Drop, our team delivered delicious sweets to active-duty military members who were working on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. USO Rota staff, volunteers, and members of our community came together to bake over 3,000 sweets including cookies, brownies, cake, rice Krispy treats, and many more yummy desserts!
To kick off the event on Christmas Eve, our team of elves, reindeer, and a giant cookie traveled around NAVSTA Rota passing out delectable sweets to all those on duty. Not only did we have an amazing group of volunteers and staff, but the Chief’s Mess also supported the event by baking and assisting us with delivery.
On Christmas day, USO Rota reindeer, Santa’s helpers, a tree, and an elf were at it again bringing joy to active-duty service members all around the base. The selflessness of our community and volunteers ensured our 2022 Operation Cookie Drop not only was a huge success but also made an everlasting impact on our community. While this may seem like a small act, it is something we are grateful we can provide to our military during these two special days.
Thank you to everyone who baked, delivered, and assisted us in this program, it is a memory that will be forever cherished. “Just remember the true spirit of Christmas lies in your heart.”
