Volunteer of the Quarter - Summer 2020

Please help us congratulate our Summer Volunteer of the Quarter Chief Contina Brown! Tina has been a volunteer with USO Rota since the end of December 2018, and in the that year and a half, she has accumulated over 300 volunteer hours with the organization, on top of working full-time at PSD in a highly visible leadership role. Not only has Tina committed herself to volunteering in the center at the conclusion of her work day, but she has also been hands on at many of the USO programs, including events such as: the school Sock Hop dance, the large base MWR events (Winter Wonderland, Eggsplosion, Independence Fest, Trunk or Treat, and Great Navy Campout), the Memorial Day 24 Hour Walk & BBQ, the Amazing Race: Teen Edition, and prepping for the big Operation Cookie Drop on Christmas Eve & Day. Tina continued to serve whenever she could, even through our shift to virtual programming. She attended almost every virtual volunteer Sip & Share event, the virtual Volunteer Coffee with JD, and also committed to our first in-person volunteer opportunity on July 4th, as restrictions started easing up here in Spain. In addition, beyond just assisting at these events, she has also executed the USO mission in a more personal way – by guiding and mentoring younger sailors and service members throughout these volunteer opportunities or when just visiting the center. Having served over 20 years already in the Navy, she is a great resource and a wealth of knowledge, and she shares that guidance with others to help provide innovative solutions and mentorship for their careers. We are so grateful for all that Tina has done and she will be missed once she PCS’s. If you want to #BeTheForce like Tina, head on over to volunteers.uso.org to make a profile today!
